A Tale of Spheres: Creating an ambiance with lighting

Montmartre

The other day I came across two remarkable displays of how a space can be transformed through the use of lighting. The Café Bruant and Le Sancerre share a similar design element of light fixtures that are made of multiple suspended spheres, yet they are entirely different in their look and the ambiance they create.

In Café Bruant, the luminous spheres are arranged in a linear pattern vertically to the ceiling. The warm and cozy light they emitted as well as the varying sizes made me feel right at home. The space was bright and inviting, the perfect place to enjoy, say, a nice Parisian breakfast between friends.

Le Sancerre on the other hand has singular spheres scattered all over the ceiling peeking out through blue and white flowers and foliage, creating an enchanting, dreamy display. As I looked up at the fairy-esque ceiling of the restaurant it almost reminded me of a starry sky, the space was super intimate and sophisticated – the perfect place to unwind and indulge.

Isn’t it fascinating how a once similar design choice can create such different dining experiences?
